Create your own Smart Watch

First there was the smart phone. Move over, Dick Tracy. Now there’s the smart watch. With a history dating back to the early 80s, the modern “smart” watch can offer a multitude of features beyond just “telling the time”.

Fitness tracking, text messaging, weather alerts, music playback and GPS functionality are examples of what you might find on offerings from Motorola or Sony.

While not a real “smart watch ” by definition, an iPod Nano can become a pseudo smart watch with the addition of a watchband strap that lets you wear your iPod Nano on your wrist.

The iPod Nano is available in 8GB or 16GB capacity and comes in a wide range of colours. In addition to the standard iPod playlists, the Nano features anFM radio, built-in accelerometer for fitness monitoring and 18 clock faces.

Several manufacturers including Griffin have stepped up to the plate to create Nano-ready wrist bands, but our favourites are from iWatchz.

They offer several collections with styles ranging from fun & funky to classic.

iWatchz are manufactured from silicone, leather and even brushed stainless steel.

It makes a great gift, but you may want one for yourself too!
